The Wheeler School serves a 1,000-student population, grades Pre-K–12. Our Campus Master Plan recommended the consolidation of academic departments dispersed throughout different buildings and identified underutilized spaces on the School’s bounded urban campus for new construction needed to meet the School’s evolving academic programming.

Two new buildings resulted for the Master Plan. The Nulman Lewis Student Center links renovated spaces in two adjacent existing buildings and serves as a primary campus gateway entrance. It includes a café, classrooms, and collaborative spaces for learning and gathering. The Gilder Center for the Arts accommodates School gatherings in a new building providing a 400-seat stepped assembly space, as well as classrooms, recording studio, practice rooms, and offices for the Music Department. It connects to the historic Wheeler Hall building with a glass-enclosed lobby, creating a new interior street for the campus. Wheeler Hall is renovated to provide a lobby, black box theatre, dressing rooms, and costume storage, as well as fine arts studios.
