Harvard Divinity School’s Swartz Hall Receives AN Best of Design Honorable Mention!
Swartz Hall at Harvard Divinity School is a recipient of a 2021 Architect’s Newspaper Best of Design Awards Honorable Mention for Building Renovation! Built in 1911 and Harvard University’s only major Collegiate Gothic structure, Swartz Hall is at the center of Divinity School academic, administrative, and social life. ABA/Annum’s design reflects the school’s diverse community and the many faith traditions practiced by students, staff, and faculty. Historically significant spaces were restored and modernized, and five levels of library book stacks were removed to create three levels of classrooms, workplace, and a new multi-faith space. A two-story addition, scaled to the century-old building, creates an accessible and inviting front door and connects the school to a renewed campus green. Congrats to the project team for this exciting recognition!
