Massachusetts State House
Designed by Charles Bulfinch, the Massachusetts State House has undergone multiple renovations and expansions since its completion in 1798, including a major addition in 1897 and its east and west wings in 1916. The building is both a National Historic Landmark and a Massachusetts Historic Landmark.
Our work on the State House began with the preparation of a Historic Structures Report, charting the evolution of building change and providing an existing conditions analysis. A subsequent study evaluated and recommended upgrades to life safety systems and led to our documentation of historic interiors using laser scanning and Building Information Modeling. This documentation was used to guide and coordinate the replacement of fire alarm systems throughout the State House building, as well as selected accessibility improvements.
